WorkCover QLD Psychology Support in Brisbane

If you’ve experienced a psychological injury or mental health concern related to your work, support is available. Our psychologists at Hello Sun are registered providers with WorkCover Queensland, offering evidence-based treatment to help you recover, manage symptoms, and improve your overall wellbeing.

What is a WorkCover Referral?

 A WorkCover referral allows you to access psychological treatment that is funded by WorkCover Queensland (WorkCover QLD).


It provides support for workers who have developed a psychological injury, stress-related condition, or trauma due to their work.


Common reasons for WorkCover referrals include:

  • Work-related stress or burnout
  • Anxiety or depression linked to work conditions or incidents 
  • Adjustment difficulties after workplace change or injury 
  • Workplace bullying, harassment, or conflict 
  • Trauma exposure in the workplace

The WorkCover Process at Hello Sun Psychology

If you have an approved WorkCover claim, or you’re in the process of applying, our team can help.

  1. Obtain a referral: You may be referred to a psychologist by your GP, treating doctor, or WorkCover case manager.
  2. Contact our admin team: Let us know that your sessions will be covered under WorkCover QLD. We’ll confirm your claim details and schedule your initial appointment. 
  3. Initial assessment: Your psychologist will take time to understand your situation, symptoms, and goals, and work collaboratively with you to develop a treatment plan. 
  4. Ongoing therapy: Regular sessions will focus on recovery, coping skills, and returning to meaningful activities and work when you’re ready.

Evidence-Based Treatment Options

Our psychologists use a range of evidence-based therapies tailored to your needs and the nature of your work-related concerns. 

These may include:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Helps you identify and adjust unhelpful thoughts or behaviours linked to stress, anxiety, or trauma.
  • Trauma-Focused Therapy & EMDR: Supports safe processing of traumatic work events and reduces related symptoms.
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Builds flexibility and resilience in managing challenging thoughts or emotions.
